There are many PCB Design software. Some examples include: Altium, OrCAD, Eagle, Diptrace and KiCAD. These tools generally work on same principle. In these tools Altium and OrCAD are commercial tools. These commercial tools will cost you several dollars. Eagle and Diptrace are free software but there are some restriction for multi-layer PCB. KiCAD is the most mature open source software (OSS) PCB tool available presently.

This tutorial will be based on KiCAD and will teach the basics of PCB design.

In this tutorial we will learn how to: make a Rounded Edges PCB. This tutorial is short but you must have all of the basic skills of PCB design.

Note: I have not created any schematic or footprint purpose of the post is only to learn how to make rounded corners PCB.

Here are the few steps required as following:

Step 1:

Open the KiCAD PCB DESIGN SOFTWARE and create a New Project and after that from main menu select tools and then edit PCBPcbnew window will open.

Step 2:

From the Layer Manager on the right side of window Select the Edge.Cuts Layer then select the arc from top menu Place -> Arc or just press Ctrl+Shift+A.

Step 3:

Keep the grid size to 1mm and click on screen and make arc according to your need.

Step 4:

Now again go to Place -> line or just press Ctrl+Shift+L and draw line to make a closed rounded rectangle.

You're all done 🎉🎉 😀😀 Now from from top menu select View -> 3D Viewer or just press Alt+3 to view your PCB in 3D.
